ACE Journal of Neurosciences (ACEJN) recognizes the growing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in scholarly research and scientific writing. The journal supports the responsible and transparent use of AI-assisted tools while maintaining the highest standards of research integrity, authorship, and publication ethics. This policy is developed in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Acceptable Use of Generative AI

Authors may use Generative AI tools to assist with:

• Language editing and grammar improvement.
• Improving readability and writing style.
• Formatting and organizing manuscripts.
• Literature searching and research assistance.
• Code development and data visualization, where appropriate.

Authors remain fully responsible for reviewing, verifying, and correcting any AI-generated content before submission.

Author Responsibility

Generative AI tools cannot assume responsibility for published work. Authors are solely responsible for:

• The accuracy of all statements, data, analyses, and conclusions.
• Ensuring that AI-generated content is free from factual errors, fabricated references, and misleading information.
• Verifying all citations and references.
• Compliance with ethical, legal, and copyright requirements.

The use of AI does not reduce or transfer the authors' responsibility for the integrity of the manuscript.

Disclosure of AI Use

If Generative AI has been used during manuscript preparation, authors should clearly disclose its use within the manuscript or cover letter. The disclosure should briefly describe:

• The AI tool used.
• The purpose for which it was used.
• The extent of AI assistance.

Routine spelling or grammar checking software generally does not require disclosure.

AI and Authorship

Generative AI systems, including large language models and similar technologies, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. AI tools cannot meet internationally accepted authorship criteria because they cannot accept responsibility, approve the final manuscript, disclose conflicts of interest, or be accountable for the published work.

Research Data and Images

Authors must not use Generative AI to fabricate, manipulate, or falsify research data, clinical findings, medical images, figures, or experimental results. Any image enhancement or AI-assisted image generation must be scientifically justified, appropriately disclosed, and must not misrepresent the original research.

Peer Review and Confidentiality

Editors and reviewers should not upload confidential manuscripts or unpublished research data into public Generative AI systems if doing so could compromise confidentiality, intellectual property, or data security.

Editorial Assessment

The Editorial Office may request clarification regarding the use of Generative AI during manuscript preparation. Failure to disclose significant AI assistance or misuse of AI technologies may result in manuscript rejection or other editorial actions.

Policy Violations

Misuse of Generative AI, including fabricated content, false citations, manipulated data, undisclosed AI-generated material, or any practice that compromises research integrity, may constitute research misconduct. Such cases will be investigated in accordance with COPE recommendations and the journal's publication ethics policies and may result in rejection, correction, retraction, or notification of the relevant institutions.
