ACE Journal of Neurosciences (ACEJN) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) when handling post-publication corrections, retractions, and other editorial updates.
Corrections
If an error is identified in a published article that does not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions, the journal may publish a Correction (Erratum or Corrigendum) to ensure the accuracy of the scientific record.
Corrections may be issued for:
- Typographical or formatting errors.
- Errors in author names or affiliations.
- Incorrect figures, tables, or supplementary files.
- Minor errors in data presentation.
- Incorrect references or DOI information.
- Other factual errors that do not affect the validity of the research.
All corrections will be clearly linked to the original article and made freely accessible.
Retractions
A published article may be retracted if there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to misconduct or honest error, or if the publication violates accepted ethical standards.
Reasons for retraction may include:
- Plagiarism.
- Data fabrication or falsification.
- Duplicate or redundant publication.
- Serious methodological or analytical errors.
- Image manipulation.
- Unethical research involving human participants or animals.
- Authorship misconduct.
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest that significantly affect the integrity of the publication.
Retraction notices will clearly state the reason for retraction and will remain permanently linked to the original article to preserve the transparency of the scholarly record.
Expressions of Concern
Where an allegation is under investigation and sufficient evidence is not yet available to support a correction or retraction, ACEJN may publish an Expression of Concern to inform readers of potential issues while the investigation is ongoing.
Investigation Process
All allegations requiring post-publication action are investigated fairly, confidentially, and objectively in accordance with COPE guidance. Authors may be asked to provide explanations, supporting documentation, or original research data during the investigation.
Where appropriate, the journal may also communicate with the authors' institutions, funding agencies, or relevant authorities.
Preservation of the Scholarly Record
Retracted articles will generally remain available online to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record but will be clearly identified as Retracted. Corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern will be permanently linked to the original publication.
Editorial Responsibility
The Editor-in-Chief has the final responsibility for decisions regarding corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions after considering the available evidence and applicable ethical guidelines.
